King Abdulaziz University (KAU) is one of the oldest Universities in Saudi Arabia (KAU Introductory Video).

It has continued to be ranked as the top university in Saudi Arabia as well as in the whole Arab World (Times Higher Education, World University Rankings), ranked at 201 – 250 internationally.

Currently, KAU has over 5000 faculty members and over 180,000 students.

The main campus covers over 4 square kilometres.

We (HPC Center, KAU) manage Aziz, a Top500 HPC machine (ranked in June and November 2015) here at the KAU. We provide computing power, research and technical support to a wide range of disciplines including climate modelling, meteorology, computer science, engineering, aeronautics, chemistry, physics, nanotechnology, materials science, biosciences, maritime and environmental studies.

One of our main focus is to contribute to the development of hard and soft infrastructure for smart cities.
